About William HelburnView Profile »
William Helburn (American, b. 1924) was a fashion photographer in the time of Irving Penn, Richard Avedon and Diane Arbus. He took flippantly glamorous photos of models like Jean Shrimpton and Ali McGraw for magazines like Harper’s Bazaar, McCall’s and LIFE. But unlike Avedon and Penn, Helburn kept strictly to advertising, and many of his photos are uncredited. Twenty-five years after he retired, Helburn is enjoying a revival with the publication of William Helburn: Seventh and Madison: Fashion and Advertising Photography. He has also been the recent subject of a solo exhibition at the Staley-Wise Gallery: William Helburn: Ad-Man.Interested in consigning works by William Helburn? Learn more »
