Devoid of any color, the element of fire is reduced to what generally is left after the fire burns-dark smudged greys. Guyton toys with the viewer of this image. Mixing the power of fire with the fragile nature of paper, Guyton takes it one step further by containing the spread of the fire with the paper’s edge. Reminding us the juxtaposition of check and balances.
