About Trenton Doyle Hancock

View Profile »

Trenton Doyle Hancock (American, b. 1974) is renowned for his intricate candy-colored prints, drawings, paintings and installations. Inherent to Hancock’s works is a desire to tell stories and narratives that blur the boundaries between fantasy and reality. In between the vibrant, sometimes whimsical hues, are pointed references to other specific artists, artistic movements, and literature, exemplifying Hancock’s informed interest in a broad range of creative influences. Hancock earned his BFA from Texas A&M University, Commerce and his MFA from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University, Philadelphia. His work has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions such as The Studio Museum in New York, the Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh, and Museum Boijamns Van Beunignen in The Netherlands. His work also features in numerous public collections including the Brooklyn Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum all situated in New York.
