Swedish-American Greta Garbo was an international superstar during the silent era and the Golden Age of Hollywood, widely regarded as a cinematic legend. She was MGM’s “premier prestige star” and their highest paid actor for most of her career. Garbo shunned publicity and lived an extremely private life. She was something of an art collector and her collection was worth millions at the time of her death.
