Roberto Diago was one of many artists who were involved in Cuba’s modern art scene during the first half of the 20th century. Here, his subject is a classic female nude reclining. The body has been abstracted, the forms seemingly comprised of geometric shapes and her skin tone made up of layered, dense color. Overall the effect conveys the vitality of flesh and the woman’s powerful presence.
