Richard Prince’s highly curated collection of ‘tweets’, social commentaries collected from users of the social media platform Twitter, continues his tongue-in-cheek exploration of notions of authorship with the advent of the internet. Fascinated by the internet’s service as a means of self-expression, Prince selects tweets by people he considers to have best embraced social media as a form of self-promotion and self-exploration on a public stage. Emerging from this highly poignant set of prints is a clear warning: what we share on the Internet, is no longer ours. The 50 separate sheets each measure 13.5 x 7.25 inches and are housed in a cardboard box that measures 13.75 x 7.6 x 1.5 inches.

About Richard Prince

View Profile »

Richard Prince (American, b. 1949) is a painter and photographer living and working in New York City. Prince is best known for his use of appropriation, and re-photography. Most recognizably, his “Untitled (Cowboy),” a "re-photograph" that sold for more than $1 million at auction in 2005, caught Prince in the middle of scandal as he appropriated the image from another photographer without their consent. Scandal aside, he remains a pioneer in encouraging the accessibility of art.
