Description

Artist Statement: "My mother’s recollections from her childhood of seeing the decorated elephants at the Mysore palace during the Dussehra celebrations, and my own love of the legendary story of the Dream of Maya prompted me to embellish this gentle giant to evoke the ethereal grace and divine beauty that I associate with the ideals of motherhood. The care of a female elephant to her calf is fiercely protective, and to me, epitomises the precious relationship of a mother to her child."
