Description

Nominated by Oliver Barbé & Christophe Urbain, BARBÉ URBAIN gallery, Ghent, Belgium

"Rebekka Löffler (b. 1985, Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany) graduated from the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe and the HISK in Ghent. Her work combines exuberant movements and objects in a complex but playful way in which some forms are clearly inspired by reality and others are invented by the painting process. By interweaving different techniques and materials, a harmonious collision of objects and waves occurs. Using three-dimensional collages that combine different types of paper and drawings, Löffler creates preliminary studies that serve as a spatial preparatory painting research. They give an idea of how the paintings are constructed and how they can be interpreted as complex movements in space." - Oliver Barbé & Christophe Urbain
