The Elizabeth Line theme prompts me to look back 25 years, when we did our first scheme for Crossrail. (Yes, it was in 1993!) The air-rights building above the Moorgate entrance to Liverpool Street Station was perched above the escalator hall, with daylight and views penetrating deep into the ground.

Rab Bennetts co-founded Bennetts Associates with his partner Denise Bennetts in 1987 and the practice has since won more than 150 awards, including shortlisting for the RIBA Sterling Prize three times. He takes a personal, hands-on approach to projects and fosters a collaborative spirit throughout the pratice's activities. Current projects include the Edinburgh Futures Institute in Edinburgh, the Woolwich Creative District in London, Jaguar Land Rover's design and purchasing HQ near Warwick and Glasgow's Citizens Theatre. He was a founder of the UK Green Building Council and is a Trustee of Sadler's Wells Foundation. Rab was awarded the OBE for services to architecture in 2003.
