After moving from New York to Paris in 1953, Paul Jenkins continued his work with oil on canvas: by pouring streams of different colored oil pigments of varying thickness onto canvas, Jenkins experimented with the chemical properties inherent to this medium. Always titling the works from this series with “phenomena,” here the artist employs vibrant hues to extend his exploration to color theory.
