In Liverman's work, she explores paint as a physical material. Building paint until it is thick enough to peel from the original surface, she cuts and tears the paint, then reassembles the pieces to form new images. In this piece, she is using the internal layers along with exterior layers to create a reveal into what is not normally seen.

This work ships from Pasadena, USA.

About Patricia Liverman

View Profile »

“My current work is fabricated from paint peeled from paintings that I made previously. Initially, my idea was to cut and remove small sections of paint from thickly painted, monochromatic compositions creating "scars" in the paintings. I became interested in the removed pieces themselves and I became very involved with ways of reassembling these fragments to create new wholes.” Patricia Liverman has shown extensively throughout Los Angeles since 2000.
