WATERFALL6 is part of an ongoing body of work from Nicolas Sassoon called PATTERNS. In PATTERNS, the artist creates digital animations using hard-edge pixel patterns and an optical technique called moiré. PATTERNS largely focuses on the representation of the natural and the atmospheric: bodies of water, wind, snow, natural elements transcribed into pixelated patterns moving across the matrix of computer screens. In WATERFALL6, Sassoon evokes a liquid motion running along an indefinite surface, creating the impression of a waterfall on the screen.
