Description

Nick Brandt is well known for his tireless efforts to capture the beauty and brilliance of the East Africa—as well as the devastating effects that human actions ultimately have on species indigenous to the area. "Giraffes in Evening Light, Masai Mara" continues his cataloging of African wildlife: Brandt's clever portrayal of the giraffes situates them within the global "human-centric" sphere—as living, conscious beings not so different to ourselves.

About Nick Brandt

View Profile »

Nick Brandt (English, b. 1964) has tirelessly worked to document the imminently vanishing natural grandeur of East Africa and the destructive impact of man on nature there. His sympathetic images memorialize the imminently vanishing natural grandeur of remaining cheetahs, elephants, lions, and hippos. In an urgent response to increased poaching in Africa, he launched the non-profit, “Big Life Foundation” in 2010, to protect and conserve Africa’s wildlife and ecosystems.
