Michael Lee (b. 1972, Singapore) is an artist and curator based in Germany and Singapore. Lee graduated with an MA and a BA in Communication Studies from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 2001 and 1997 respectively. He researches urban memory and fiction, especially the contexts and implications of loss. Through his research, Lee transforms his observations into objects, diagrams, situations, curation or essays.
Past exhibitions and projects include Michael Lee: Some Detours, Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin, in 2013; M-trospective: Michael Lee’s First Decade 2001–2011, Studio Bibliothèque, Singapore, and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? The Paradox of Choice in a Time of Anxiety, Para Site, Hong Kong, in 2012 and the 2nd Chungking Youth Art Biennale, Chongqing Art Museum and Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, Chongqing, in 2011.
