About Mel RamosView Profile »
Mel Ramos’s (b. 1935, Sacramento, CA) works twist the pop-art genre by parodying common brands. Ramos produces paintings, prints, sculptures and tapestries with his works often centering upon exaggerated pin-up style nudes paired against well-known consumer brands. While collaborating with Tamarind Institute, Ramos switched tone and produced a series of lithographs that depict warm textured, tropical views of the California landscape. His work is represented in many major museum collections including Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.; HM de Young Museum, San Francisco; Guggenheim Museum, New York; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. Ramos currently lives and works between Oakland, CA and Horta de San Juan, Spain.Interested in consigning works by Mel Ramos? Learn more »
