Large in scale and powerful in impact,"Rivière Noire" is a superb example from Flood's most prolific and recognizable series. The "Lace Paintings" relay the fine delicacies of fraying fabric over canvas. Here, Flood enhances the ends of the material with color, moving from pink to blue to harrowing darkness, creating an electric, visual vortex on a two-dimensional plane.
