View Profile »

Lynda Benglis (American, b. 1941) is an American sculptor, video artist, photographer and painter who first rose to prominence in the 1960s for her wax paintings and poured latex sculptures. Benglis’ works are the result of a profound study of the physical qualities of diverse materials, the forms they acquire when handled under certain conditions and their subsequent effects on the viewer. Her work is featured in numerous international public collections including the Guggenheim Museum, MoMA and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. In 2011, the New Museum in New York featured a major retrospective of her work.
