The investigation of social issues plays a systematic function in von Lapschina’s work through her exploration of their malfunctions and opposing factors. “Yes/No” employs dark space and neon light to draw out a distinct dichotomy, eliminating the “gray area” between two contending concepts. By only being able to see the affirmative “Yes” or the definite “No” at one time, the viewer is granted the opportunity to oscillate from one binary to the other.
