Josephine Durkin’s research and studio practice has involved the creation of drawings, videos, sculptures, and large-scale, interactive and kinetic installations that personify recognizable or manipulated objects and materials. Her drawings and paintings are generated by her object making. The leftover studio residue, from the process of making her sculptures, is digitally photographed, printed onto a heavyweight paper, and used as source material for drawings and paintings. Josephine holds a BFA in Sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University and an MFA in Sculpture from Yale University. She has exhibited in the United States and Europe, and most recently was included in the group show, Lavish, at the Dallas Contemporary. She is an Associate Professor of Art at Texas A&M University – Commerce, where she teaches Sculpture and 3D Design.
