John Davis is visual artist, filmmaker and musician whose current work builds on the transcendental qualities of experimental film, while expanding the relationship between moving image and sound through live performance, collaboration, experimentation and improvisation. Recent works include soundtracks to four films by Lawrence Jordan, as well as films for music videos by Barn Owl, Bryter Layter and Aquarelle, and his music has been released on the Root Strata, Digitalis, Peasant Magik and Students of Decay labels.
John's film and video works have exhibited widely, notably at the San Francisco Cinematheque Crossroads Festival, The San Francisco Electronic Music Festival, Transmediale in Berlin, The Impakt festival in the Netherlands and Videoex in Zurich. His archival footage film Mark You Make Believe My Dear, Yes was included in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art's Long Play: Bruce Conner and the Singles Collection in 2010, and his video Between Subjects was featured as part of a collection of highlights marking the 20th anniversary of the Freewaves Biennial of Experimental Video and Art at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
