Jens Einhorn’s paintings stretch the boundaries of the medium; some of his pared-down works use no paint at all, while others include such strange materials as rope and organza fabric. He cites the subcultures of East Germany as a major influence, particularly the impact of punk and grunge. This lush, exuberant painting takes on a more maximalist appearance than much of his other work.
