Swedish artist Ilja Karilampi (b. 1983) works in a variety of media including sculpture, installation, and video. Karilampi’s artistic practice investigates the fraught divide between urban street culture, pop, and commercial branding, revealing the problematic condition of contemporary urban space. A graduate of Frankfurt’s Städelschule and Stockholm’s Royal Institute of Art, Karilampi has exhibited at Suzanne Geiss Company in New York, Wilkinson Gallery in London, MoMA PS1, and Sandy Brown Berlin.
