About HK ZamaniView Profile »
HK Zamani is a Los Angeles based artist, curator, and founder of Post, a gallery in Los Angeles. His work is guided by extreme influences ranging from asceticism to psychedelia. “Fashion of the Veil” was performed at TRack 16 in 2009. The first of the Veil series was performed in the group exhibition “Big Plastic” curated by Jay Belloli at the Armory in Pasadena in November of 2001. These performances are endurance based and are presented as a poignant critique of patriarchy, especially of the artist’s native Iran. They grew out of Zamani’s fabric and armature paintings and installations, and their timing corresponded with the growing fear of Islamic cultures. He has exhibited in numerous cities, among them New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Berlin, London, Vienna, Prague, Seoul, and Saigon. His work is in the permanent collections of Los Angeles County Museum and Berkeley Museum of Art.Interested in consigning works by HK Zamani? Learn more »
