About Colnago and La Carrera

View Profile »

Colnago was founded by Ernesto Colnago in the northern Italian region of Lombardy in 1952, following a crash that ended his road-racing career. In 1960 Luigi Arienti won gold at the Rome Olympics on a Colnago bicycle, and by 1963 Colnago was employed as head mechanic for the Molteni team captained by Eddy Merckx. Merckx broke the one-hour world record on a Colnago steel frame in Mexico City in 1972, and since 1986 Colnago has collaborated with Ferrari on a range of bicycles.
