Clytie Alexander (b. 1940, Lawrence, Kansas) is based in New York and Los Angeles. She was educated in Quebec and Bangladesh where she studied music and dance. She later apprenticed with an architect and studied art at UCLA. Her work resides in private and public collections including: the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego; Getty Research Institute Library, Los Angeles; Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City; Harwood Art Museum Taos; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; and Fondo Francesco Moschini AAM, Rome Italy. She has received numerous grants and awards, including the AAAL Art Purchase Award, 2003, 2007, 2013; Gottlieb Foundation 2005; Pollock Krasner Foundation 1993 and 2001; Elizabeth Foundation Studio Space Award 1998-2018.
