“No Title/Green,” 1998, is one in a series of small paintings dating 1998-2004. These were early explorations for the current Loop series. While sharing characteristics with other compositions the same size, each work is unique. Variations occurring piece to piece create both motion and stillness between them.

Clytie Alexander (b. 1940, Lawrence, Kansas) is based in New York and Los Angeles. She was educated in Quebec and Bangladesh where she studied music and dance. She later apprenticed with an architect and studied art at UCLA. Her work resides in private and public collections including: the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego; Getty Research Institute Library, Los Angeles; Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City; Harwood Art Museum Taos; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; and Fondo Francesco Moschini AAM, Rome Italy. She has received numerous grants and awards, including the AAAL Art Purchase Award, 2003, 2007, 2013; Gottlieb Foundation 2005; Pollock Krasner Foundation 1993 and 2001; Elizabeth Foundation Studio Space Award 1998-2018. She is represented by the Betty Cuningham Gallery New York where her recent solo show was “Ink and Paper."
