Basing his work on iconography commonly seen on Ancient Greek pottery, Cleon Peterson creates chaotic and violent paintings that reveal a world of anarchy. The ruthless acts of violence penetrate through "a world where ethics have been abandoned in favor of personal entitlement," as described by Peterson. Here, the black-and-white contrast deepens hard-edged lines in turn producing nightmarish vignettes that act as a timely warning against today's numb with apathy world.
