Forever fascinated with the construction of contemporary identity and the nature of representation, here Cindy Sherman takes on the applied arts, presenting an homage to an original design commissioned by Madame De Pompadour in 1756 at the Manufacture Royale de Sevres. In her version, Sherman casts herself as Madame de Pompadour, depicted on both on the front of the teapot and inside the teacup. The result of transferring the design onto porcelain through 16 photo-silkscreens, the set is also painted at Ancienne Manufacture Royale, then individually signed and numbered.
