Cartier (Société Cartier) was founded in Paris in 1847 by by Louis-François Cartier, remaining under the Cartier family’s control until 1964. The Paris-based company is now owned by Compagnie Financière Richemont SA. The firm is best known for their jewelry and wrist watches, and created the infamous Panthère brooch for Wallis Simpson in the 1940s.
