In this work, Griffiths was influenced by the universal questions raised in the Star Wars series about right vs wrong, good vs bad and the notion that there are other forces at work. For Griffiths this force is nature, all powerful and all changing. She translates this force onto the helmet using an organic free flowing design that plays with the positive and negative spaces and the dark and light, to achieve some kind of balance.

About Carne Griffiths

View Profile »

Originally from Liverpool, Carne Griffiths graduated from Kent Institute of Art and Design in 1995. On moving to London he undertook an apprenticeship as a gold wire embroidery designer and this has had a strong influence on his work, which often takes the form of repeating, flowing patterns. His beautifully detailed art prints are created from various materials including ink, graphite, brandy and whisky and they have been exhibited in the UK, US and Europe. Carne Griffiths has designed for a range of prestigious clients, including; HRH the Prince of Wales, The Sultan of Oman, Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford, Asprey, Chanel, Burberry, as well as many of London's Savile Row tailors. Carne's images explore both human and floral forms, figuratively and in an abstract sense. He is fascinated by the flow of line and the 'invisible lines' that connect us to the natural world.
