About Brynda GlazierView Profile »
Brynda Glazier is a visual artist and writer who lives, works, and teaches in the San Francisco Bay Area. She received her MFA in 2010 from the San Francisco Art Institute where she was granted the Dennis Patrick Gallagher Award for Excellence in Ceramic Sculpture. Her work was selected for the Cream from the Top: The Best of Bay Area’s Emerging Artists exhibition, and she was invited to present her writing at the Living Room event at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Glazier has exhibited nationally including The Center Of Contemporary Art and Gage Gallery in Seattle, WA, Tacoma Art Museum, Tacoma WA, Worksound Gallery, Portland, Oregon, in the bay area at 2nd Floor Projects, Performance Art Institute, and in October, 2013, Aggregate Space hosted a solo exhibition of Glazier’s large scale installations, paintings, and video. Her Work has received reviews from The Examiner, San Francisco Art Beat, SF Gate, East Bay Express, KQED Arts, and The Stranger (Seattle), and coming up in January of 2014, two of Glazier’s short stories will be published in the 16th issue of Eleven Eleven. Her work, though rooted in sculpture and mixed media installation, ranges from oil painting, drawing, collage, photography, film and most recently, to performance. Glazier’s full-size ceramic figures and elaborately conceived environments shepherd viewers into a simulacrum of seemingly unrelated forms and contexts. Her installations exercise a certain kind of preternatural human intimacy where her sculptures act to transpose the reflection of “civilized man”, as one attuned to nature and living agreeably through the confluence of science and poetry. Her work is much like following the source of an echo between history and present, individual and universal, the beautiful and the bizarre.Interested in consigning works by Brynda Glazier?
