About Angel Otero

View Profile »

Angel Otero (Puerto Rican, b. 1981) is a painter who received his BFA and MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His abstract works draw upon the traditions of the Old Masters, specifically the Baroque period, as well as his own personal history. His works are created through creating “oil skins,” which are comprised of paint that has been poured onto glass and peeled off after it dries. He then places the skin atop canvas or sculptures, adding spray paint, resin, and silicone.
