About Amy Adler

View Profile »

Amy Adler (American, b.1966) creates artworks that blur the line between drawing and photography. By drawing from photographs and photographing her drawings, she calls into question ideas of authenticity and originality. Many of her projects—such as “Amy Adler Photographs Leonardo DiCaprio” and her many intimate self-portraits—examine the divide between the public and private spheres. Her work is included in the permanent collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Broad Foundation, Los Angeles, and the Pérez Art Museum, Miami. Adler received her MFA in Visual Art from UCLA and MFA in Cinematic Arts from USC. She lives in Los Angeles and is a professor at the University of California San Diego.
