Description

AJ Oishi’s layered circular designs, created with the eraser side of a #2 pencil, are inspired by her analysis of relationships and individuals, and how they work together or against each other to create beauty or darkness. By overlaying multiple circles, Oishi tells a story of individuals interacting and affecting each other, resulting in happiness, love, empowerment, or dysfunction. All of these details come together to represent the complexity of our interpersonal relationships. Oishi is an emerging self-taught artist originally from Seattle. She graduated with a BA in Economics and Sociology, and spent her professional career working in roles that required organization and detailed analysis. She has participated in shows in San Francisco, New York, Miami, and Columbus, and has been represented by galleries in Palo Alto, San Francisco, and Columbus.
