Vice has recently collaborated with the film Lawless, nominated at Cannes Film Festival, to revisit the issue of prohibition through art. Lawless, starring Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman and Jessica Chastain, is a prohibition era film set in the wettest county in the country in Virginia. Lawless follows the Bondurant brothers, famous for their illegal bootleg business, as the authorities chase them to get a piece of their profits.
Vice has invited all of their readers and followers to submit prohibition-inspired art in honor of Lawless. The three images with the most “likes” will win a one-year subscription to Vice, bags of swag and epic bragging rights. Eight of their favorite illustrators have already taken a stab at creating prohibition inspired posters mimicking those produced during that era. Participating illustrators include Dongyun Lee, Vikki Chu, Sachin Teng and Vladimir Kato, among others. Image submission will be open until the premier of Lawless on August 29th.
