Happening | Guild Hall

The Guild Hall Art Auction launches today on Paddle8. The auction features works by contemporary artists like Ross Bleckner, George Condo, Paul McCarthy, Malcolm Morley and William Wegman. Online bidding ends August 10th at noon when all bids will transfer to the live event – the Guild Hall Summer Gala and Art Auction in East Hampton. The Summer Gala celebrates Eric Fischl and includes music and dining. Fischl is an American painter and sculptor. His art often carries the backdrop of the rift between what is experienced but unsaid in the American suburbs. Fischl has said that this suburban upbringing provided him with firsthand experiences of alcoholism and the country club culture, and this provided him with a lot of his images and content. This has led Fischl to be referred to as the ‘Painter of the Suburbs’ – themes include adolescent sexuality, voyeurism and adultery.
