Happening | The Scroll’s 300th Post

Paddle8 is excited to celebrate our 300th post! The Scroll is Paddle8′s daily inspiration board where stories about people, collecting, destinations, and other art related topics are shared. Through the Scroll, Paddle8 has had the opportunity to interview artists and curators, incorporate impressive guest contributors and visiting artists, and much more. Today, we present some Scroll highlights:

For starters, the Scroll gives a shout-out to Vince Alleti, the Disco Expert, who spoke to Paddle8 last summer about his experience with the 1970′s disco scene, the importance of a good DJ and gave us his recent playlist.

Other memorable interviews included ones with fashion designer Henrik Vibskov, Edinburgh-based art space Ingleby Gallery’s Richard Ingleby and artist Alex Israel with a video recording of his interview with Marilyn Manson. The Scroll’s “Outtakes” interview between Marina Abramovic and Hans Ulrich Obrist is another favorite!

The Paddle8 series “Spotlight | Neighborhood” on Brooklyn was a big Scroll success! To celebrate the BAM auction on Paddle8, we explored some Brooklyn neighborhoods to illustrate some of New York’s diverse and growing art communities. Selected neighborhoods included Bushwick, Rockaway Beach, Greenpoint and Sunset Park.

Art fairs are an important part of Paddle8 which is why the Armory Show coverage was a large component to the Scroll. For example, Paddle8′s interview with Moving Image co-founder and gallerist Ed Winkelman, who answered questions about Armory Film.

We paid tribute to some of the great late artists of the past year on the Scroll, such as Dennis Hopper, John Chamberlain and Mike Kelley.
