Happening | Performa’s First Benefit Auction



Starting April 23rd Paddle8 is very excited to bring online an exclusive preview of Performa’s First Benefit Auction, which is co-hosted with their collaborator the FLAG Art Foundation.  Live online bidding will begin May 7th, followed by a reception at the FLAG Art Foundation held on May 17

 

Co-chaired this year by Paddle8’s co-founder Aditya Julka along with Amanda and Glenn Fuhrman, Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn, and Performa founder RoseLee Goldberg, artists featured in the auction will include a mix of many familiar faces to the Paddle8 family.

 

The diverse list includes artworks from Laurel Nakadate, who was featured in last year’s Performa 11 + Paddle8 commissioned performance with James Franco, a large close-up of lips entitled Nail Biter (2010) by Saturation artist Marilyn Minter, and a black and white photograph entitled self portrait dancing in berlin cemetary (2007) by Immateriality artist Terence Koh.  Also featured in the auction is a vivid composition from John Baldesarri entitled Person with Pink Guitar (2005),  Krak (2009) by visual and sound artist Christian Marclay, and a bronze version Bring me the head of…(2007) from food-based Turkish artist and Performa 07′ participant Serkan Ozkaya.  Stay tuned to also see works on Paddle8 from Mike Kelley, collaborative duo Elmgreen and Dragset, and Laurie Simmons as the preview goes live online today.

 

All funds and proceeds will go to support Performa Commissions and Performa 13, the fifth international biennial of new visual art performance – scheduled to take place throughout New York City in November 2013.
