At Art Basel Miami Beach earlier this month, the Swiss fashion line Bally unveiled its capsule collection BallyLove #2, made in collaboration with artist Olaf Breuning. This isn’t the first foray beyond the gallery for Breuning, who has worked with Cynthia Rowley in performance art inspired clothing that was exhibited in a MoMA PS1 group exhibition of fashion/artist collaborations.
A collaboration between Bally and Bruening (also of Swiss origin) makes perfect sense. The project fits into Breuning’s oeuvre of performative installations and transformations of the human body using paint and found objects as costumes with his capsule collection as another way to outfit the body. It also employs his visual motif of brightly saturated color applied in broad swaths.
The collection is slated to be available for purchase beginning April of 2011. See the preview along with videos at Bally-Love.com.
