Did You Know | Kreëmart’s Art Feast in Miami

Did you know: Kreëmart served art audiences desserts in two different venues in Miami last week? The creative enterprise is known for uniting artists with pastry chefs to explore desert as a medium. As Kreëmart’s founder Raphael Castoriano explains, “Dessert is like art: It’s not essential; it’s a luxury.”

In the video above, Kreëmart presented dessert foods for Art Basel Miami Beach’s 10th Anniversary celebration at the W Hotel. Regina Silveira’s “Arte” cookies and an Angel Otero piece involving chocolate and titled “Pissing Contest II” were sumptuously presented alongside Anselm Reyle’s neon forms. The other artists included Ryan McNamara, Paola Pivi and Richard Tuttle (in collaboration with Chef Guido Mogni). In a brilliant verbal pun, guests eagerly consumed the art and its commentary. A second performance was titled “Digestible News,” featuring edible newspapers, followed by a panel discussion at the Kreëmart Salon about the subversive potential of dessert in art.

In past years, Kreëmart has worked with a variety of artists including Marina Abramovic and Terence Koh, whose 8 by 8 inch empty square permeated with the scent of mint chocolate and was included in the Paddle8 Immaterial exhibition.
